Why is it ALWAYS Dawn of War...?

Seriously, 5 of the last six games have been DoW. Getting sick of it.

On a happier note - I FINALLY ROLLED A REGENERATION RESULT!!

Euclid, this Bud's for you.

I think I was up to about 60 attempts made at this point without success. Of course the regen that I made was on the Prime with only one wound taken, the Prime with two wounds gone failed both and then got ganked the next turn.

Ah well.

Got in a game with my Nids versus a pretty decent Tau list. Everything in it was pretty good... except for some goddawful reason he had a squad of Vespid. Even stranger, in a bizaar turn of circumstance he ASSAULTED me with his Vespid (and yes, it was actually a sensible move at the time). It was... strange.

Anyways, Dawn of War with the auto-tie mission. Of course his objective was placed WAAAY on his table edge. His list was something like the following (I really don't know Tau very well so bear with me):

Leader dude with 2+ armor, 4++ invul, fusion gun and Feel No Pain
Leader dude with Twin Linked Missile Pod

Crisis Suits x 3 w/Twin Linked Missile Pod, Marker Drones x 2
Crisis Suits x 3 w/Twin Linked Missile Pod, Marker Drones x 2

Firewarriors x 6, Devilfish, Disruption Pod, Flechette Launchers, Counts as Fast Vehicle Thingy
Firewarriors x 6, Devilfish, Disruption Pod, Flechette Launchers, Counts as Fast Vehicle Thingy
Firewarriors x 6, Devilfish, Disruption Pod, Flechette Launchers, Counts as Fast Vehicle Thingy

Pathfinders x 8, Devilfish as above

Vespid x 10

Broadsides x 2, Shield Drone, Smart Missiles
Broadsides x 2, Shield Drone, Smart Missiles
Broadsides x 2, Shield Drone, Smart Missiles

I think that's about right. Anyways, I ended up winning the game on the seventh turn (lol) by wiping out the last things in his army and consolidating onto his objective on his board edge. The only things left alive where his Broadsides on a hill in a corner that I mostly ignored through the game. They did manage to kill a Tyrannofex but not before it had wrecked two Devilfish and killed a Firewarrior squad (hurray for Onslaughting into position to drop a flame template on top of an entire unit hiding behind the Devilfish you are shooting, then immobilizing the Devilfish and assaulting it for the kill after killing the Firewarriors).

So, umm, basic strategy:

Deploy Genestealers forward threatening his board edge, in cover. Get Feel No Pain on them. Do NOT go to ground so that he is forced to kill one squad to the last bug (from his entire army's shooting) and leave the other squad untouched. Get other squad into a nice combi-assault the next turn, wipe out Firewarrior squad and get stuck in with the 2+ Feel No Pain commander. Watch as said commander makes an IMPROBABLE number of invul saves and you get stuck in for your next turn, which turned what probably would have been an easy win into a difficult slog fest as your genestealers pop out on YOUR assault phase and get subsequently get shot to pieces.

Oh well, you implement the strategy as best you can, and sometimes the dice decide "no, I don't care how smart you think you are, that's not going to work this time."

Anyways, from there it became Operation Get Cross the Table and Blow up all his Tank Shocking Vehicles. I am pleased to announce this operation was a success. :D

I lost my Genestealers (I always do) and a single Tyrannofex. He lost everything but his Broadsides.

Yay bugs.

Not really a battle report, just letting you know what's going down and who's beating what with whom. Or who's beating whom with what. Or whatever.

Ta ta kiddies.
