My first Necron list (WIP)

Well,

Mike B put up some nice thoughts on the new Necrons dex yesterday. I think he's got a lot of good information in there - you should go read through it.

I like what he's saying here - Necrons don't need to be built like Space Marines. I dig it. I believe it.

Heck, I could probably play a "counts as" Necrons army using only Tyranid models. How many Ripper swarms (Scarabs!) could I assemble... a lot. Spyders... check. Warriors... Termagants with Devourers could work, lol.

I've always wished there were some compelling reasons to take Rippers.  Le sigh.

Anyways.

I've been playing around with some mechanized lists, which is exactly the direction that Mike said not to go. But what does he know, amirite? ;D

Anyways, not saying this is the best concept, and it hasn't hit the table yet. But it would be nice to get your thoughts on it. I've been banging on it for like two weeks and sometimes an idea just needs to get exposed to the light of day to figure out if it's good or bad.

Overlord, Warscythe, Command Barge

Crypteks x 5, 1 of Transmog w/Harp, 4 Destruction (1 with Pulse).

That's 1980. The basic idea is that the Harp Crypteks join the Warriors and are backfield objective holders that can decay AV 13 and 14 from long range so the Strength 8 guns can take them down. Destruction Crypteks attach to the Immortal squads. Two units of two Destruction Crypteks are left over, and they hop into the Ghost Arks to give them each 2 Strength 8 shots.

That gives us 12 Strength 8 shots and 8 Strength 7 shots, our nice Overlord zoom-zoom-chop-chop units, and some decent anti-infantry. We can if we want downgrade the Immortals to Warriors and put in another Annihilation barge. This army has a strong vehicle presence as well as a good amount of infantry which start on the table.

I'm not sure if it's good, bad or indifferent. Your thoughts welcome.
